Jumping to victory
The St Margaret’s School for Girls, Aberdeen, equestrian team has jumped themselves to victory in the recent ‘Just For Schools’ British Showjumping National Championships held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, winning the overall UK schools league title.
Anna Tomlinson, head of St Margaret’s School for Girls, said:
“Our equestrian team has made us truly proud in what has been a challenging year of training and competing for the whole team.
In particular, despite Catherine breaking her arm earlier in the year, she continued her lead as team captain, encouraging the other riders and recovered well to take part in this event.

Toilet support is more of an issue than schools realise, according to leading campaign group ERIC: 1 in 12 pupils have continence issues, and schools have a statutory duty to support them.
And its not just children with continence issues that need support: Islamic Qadaa’ al-Haajah requires washing one’s intimate parts with water after toileting, affecting a further 1 in 12 schoolchildren in England and Wales- a gure that has almost doubled in a decade.
Closomat, Britain’s leading provider of helpful toilet solutions at home and away, has thus developed a solution that enables schools to meet all these needs,
in one.

Our rst horses arrived on site after Christmas and today we are British Horse Society approved, with twenty six pupils (and rising) regularly enjoying horse riding as part of their timetable. Lancing College is an important part of the local community and our ambition has always been to make these facilities available beyond our own pupils and this is now starting to happen in time for the summer holiday.”
integrated douching and drying. Thus there is no need to manually cleanse with toilet tissue – by pupil or staff, and it satis es Qadaa’ al- Haajah criteria.
The shower action also cleans more thoroughly, consistently and hygienically than wiping- especially valid if dealing
with a soiling incident- and
the subsequent dying action ensures the pupil is comfortable afterwards. The washing and drying delivers more dignity and improved hygiene for all involved, and can play a key role in helping any of the 1.3m (15%) of pupils with special needs learn to self manage their toileting.
Gold showjumping
Pangbourne College, Berkshire, pupil Josie Symons has helped Great Britain win a stunning Team Gold at the FEI European Showjumping Championship 2017 in Samorin, Slovakia.
Aboard Concordette RR, Josie was one of three GB riders to awlessly go clear in a dramatic jump-off for the gold medal with Belgium, who they tensely remained deadlocked
with after the regular rounds of competition in the Children section.
Pangbourne Equestrian Head of Riding Miss Stacey Donnison said: “It is incredible. Josie is relatively new to the international circuit, so toputsuchastamponit, insucha short space of time puts her up there with the best. What is better than gold? When I found out the news, it sent tingles down my spine.”
